Moving is a large-scale, detailed event, and it is imperative that you choose the right mover for the job. Most people know to call movers to compare estimates before a move, but there are many other things you should be asking when comparing movers as well. These include asking questions like whether the mover is licensed and insured, how your belongings will be secured should the move require overnight travel, whether your belongings will be transferred, whether the mover will perform the work themselves or subcontract out any of the work, and many more. Call Joe Moholland Moving Company today, and ask one of our courteous professionals for a checklist of things to consider when hiring a mover.
Approximately two months before your move, call around to schedule estimates. To obtain accurate, comparable estimates, be sure to have moving companies come to your home to inspect your belongings and what you need moved, disassembled, and/or packed. A reputable moving company will also need to know detailed information about your current and new location, such as whether an elevator is available, how many flights of stairs are involved and how navigable they may be, and whether a smaller shuttle may be needed to access either location. Make sure you get each estimate in writing, on company letterhead, and that it includes, at a minimum, the full name of the person who wrote your estimate, current date and specific dates for pickup and delivery of your goods, names, phone numbers and addresses of all involved if moving overseas, what is being moved, and of course, the per hour rate with number of hours or flat rate.
